Miller Youth Award

To fill out the Miller Youth Awards Entry Form, please note the following:

Miller Youth Award projects should be designed to improve our community's environment by demonstrating youth leadership that instills pride and creates a positive and sustainable impact on the community. Projects should relate to at least one of the following environmental topics. Make sure all projects document measurable results, (i.e. # of bags or pounds of little picked up, tress planted, pounds of material recycled, # of people participating & hours of service.)

Entry Forms Are Due by April 16, 2010

Litter Prevention and Cleanup:
Examples: Volunteer litter cleanups, participation in the Great American Campus Clean-ups or Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off in April, Adopt-a-Highway or Adopt-a-Street, Water Way Cleanup, Graffiti removal. Form a L.I.T.T.E.R. Posse group (Leaders Involved in Tackling Trash Education and Recycling), then organize a litter cleanup using our "Litter Tackle Box" resource at any time of year, as well as implement a program to educate others why it's important NOT to litter.

Beautification:
Organize to plant trees, do a landscaping project or xeriscapy project, "Blanket the Brazos" wildflower plating project, etc. Participate in promoting the planting of Crape Myrtles in Brazos County. Create partnerships with other organizations to beautify the community such as Habitat for City Parks Departments, Humanity for Humanity, Historical Preservation Societies, Neighborhood Associations, Keep Brazos Beautiful, etc.

Waste Minimization & Recycling:
Organize projects that support Recycling, Source Reduction, Reuse, or Composting. Create a project that has sustainable and measurable results that demonstrate your projects overall effects on the community. Use Keep America Beautiful's "Waste in Place" environmental curriculum.

1st Place Winners will Receive:
- $100 Cash Award (to be reinvested in the winner's activities benefiting the community)
